her and no one could tell me we weren’t going to last forever. College? Going
pro? My family’s money? None of it mattered. She was all I needed.
wronged one. The pain is still there, but I can’t keep my eyes off her. I can’t
stop thinking about her and how much was left unsaid between us. Being this
close is making me question everything I thought I knew about her.
Oh my gosh did I love this book!! I haven’t read Maya before, but now I want to read everything she’s ever written!! I LOVE Sports books, and even though sports isn’t the focus of this book, sports players are amazing leads.
I LOVED everything about Avery and Emmett, their individual stories and the story of their past love were just so well thought out and interesting! They lived COMPLETELY different lives and that was such an interesting part of this story. Avery had SO much to deal with while they were together in High School, the amount of responsibly she took on was so colossal. It was insane to think that she dealt with that all, and a little maddening that she dealt with it herself. Then we have Emmet who was the complete opposite, he lived the most privileged life, but also the most lonely. Overall though, I loved how strong their love was. The love that these two had for each other was just so amazing. Both of them would have dropped anything for each other, and it was so sad to see how they lived without each other. Speaking of living without each other, boy did they live some different lives as adults! I LOVED that Avery was a baker, the whole time I read about it all I wanted was desserts!! Her devotion and love for the bakery was so adorable. And I love that Emmett was a hockey player and desperately loved what he did with his money. He was so selfless, even if he was a little pushy about it. They were both so selfless actually, and that made them so admirable!
Without giving too much away, I have to talk about their tension at the summer house!!! I was DYING when they first saw each other!!! The reaction they had to each other was EVERYTHING! The best part about it was their friends. I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but I loved how they totally egged the two on and made their tension so much stronger. Their friends were really a key part of this story. I always stress about supporting characters, and their friends were AMAZING supporting characters!!! They truly give this book so much life! Not only did we have this great set of friends, Avery’s sister and father, and Emmett’s parents really brought this story to gather in the best ways. There was the perfect amount of drama, excitement, steamy parts and emotions!
I cannot wait to go back and read about the other Rittenhouse boys after reading this, I’m so addicted!!
