Hannah Freeman loved her best friend’s brother for as long as she could remember. On her eighteenth birthday, her only wish came true when Landon Walker swept her off her feet. With him flying off for a two-month tour the next day, Hannah willingly gave herself to him.

Landon Walker thought one taste of Hannah Freeman was all he needed. One small bite of the redheaded, innocent vixen and he was unknowingly hooked. When he came home, he wasn’t prepared for the tragedy that would hit them.

Ten years later, Hannah and Landon are never far from each other’s minds. They suffer in silence in a room full of people who don’t know their secret. When a bad date and a stressful workday bring them together at Club Three, Landon and Hannah begin a secretive affair that has the sheets burning up. He wants a submissive, and she wants a man who can help drive her passionate side wild.

When Landon’s job catches up with him, it’s up to him to keep Hannah safe until he’s put in harm’s way and Hannah begins to relive the nightmare she thought she’d moved on from.

A price must be paid but the question is, who will be the first to sacrifice for the other?

“She’s headed home. You want to tell me what that was all about?”

I don’t bother looking up from the drink in my hand to find the steely gaze of Slade Callaghan-Donovan. I can hear the rigid tone of his voice just fine from where I sit.

“This place isn’t for Hannah. She doesn’t have a single submissive bone in her body. If anything, she’s probably one of those girls who get off on a little light spanking at night but come morning, she feels disgusted with herself.” I take another long, hard drink of the glass in my hand, letting it burn my throat on the way down. Anything to distract from the itch I have to hunt down Hannah.

Slade sits down on the empty barstool next to me and orders a drink. “Landon, you’re treating her like she’s a child. I don’t see you acting that way with Caitlyn or Melanie –”

“I don’t need to know what it is that you do with Mel. Regardless, they’re grown, married women. Hannah is…”

“You do realize that Hannah is older than your sisters, right? Just a couple of months older than Caitlyn, almost a year and a half older than Melanie. She’s more than capable of making her own decisions when it comes to what she wants sexually and what she wants in a partner. You can’t treat her like a fragile piece of glass. She won’t break so easily.”

I finally turn to my right to look at Slade. “There are things about Hannah that you don’t know about. Hell, stuff Caitlyn and Melanie don’t know about. Hannah acts tough, but I know that she’s this delicate, cracked person.”

“You love her,” Slade finally says after a stretch of silence. A statement, not a question.

“No… Yes… No.” I set my glass down and flag down the bartender to pour me another.

“There was a time in my life when I thought I did. I never saw Hannah as one of my sisters just like Caitlyn never saw Charlie as another brother. But that was a long time ago. I’ve never told this to anyone, not even Charlie, but Hannah and I had our moment. It was brief but memorable. But some things are better left in the past, buried away with the rest of life’s secrets.”

“Landon, if this is more than some childhood crush, then maybe you need to get off your ass and go after her. Otherwise, you need to let Hannah go. Let her live her life without the Landon tether. She’s moving on. Maybe you should too. Let Francois guide her into another chapter of her life.”

I look at Slade like he’s grown an extra head. “Francois? That guy doesn’t know his head from his ass. Why would you set her up with him?”

“Jesus Christ, Landon. He’s good with the newer girls. He trained Jade, and I don’t see you complaining about her.”

“Because Jade was meant for this. Fuck, I need to get out of here. I’ll be damned if I let him touch her.”

I throw some cash on the bar and grab my keys. I wasn’t messing with Slade. I don’t want anyone touching Hannah. If she’s determined to weasel her way into another part of my life, it sure as hell won’t be Francois showing her the ropes.

No fucking way.

Morgan lives in the south of Texas with her family. She loves all things books, especially any kind of romance, thrillers, and mysteries. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found with her nose stuck in a book, cooking, baking, crocheting, and causing a general ruckus with her friends and family! Filled with an overactive imagination at a young age, she began writing her thoughts down in a journal, and the rest, as they say, is history.
