Favorites of 2018: Part One

Hello my loves!!!! I just realized today that we are more than halfway through 2018, and that means FAVORITES TIME!!! I haven’t read as many books this year, but I’ve read some REALLY amazing ones! Now, I know I’ve been slightly MIA. My life has been in complete disarray, but after this weekend I should be a little more active. Also, it’s been hot as hades up here in PA!!! Now lets get to these amazing books ♥

Now in this list is one of my all-time favorites (big, I know), one of my favorite sports writers and one of my favorite series. Can’t wait to share!

hot shotHot Shot (Game On #4) by Kristen Callihan

This series is one of my favorite series of all times. I’m his series is what corn me back into reading at such a high pace I can’t believe j waited so long to read this book!!!

I didn’t know much about Finn in the previous books, but man was his story special!! I love doing the instant heat he and Chess had. Chess is so perfect for him too! She doesn’t take his crap and he had to earn her friendship and love. I love how tough she was and how reluctant she was but was. She was so reserved about letting herself go with Finn. But, Finn helped her break down those walls. Then, she helped him break down his.

I love how sweet Finn was with her, the trip to his families home and all of the times they went out. Loved how he truly became a good friend until she’s she ready for him. Seeing these two fall was just so special I also love of loved seeing their relationships with their friends evolve. James and Jake here since sich good friends to these two, they made the story the that much better. I can’t wait wait to see Jake fall!

64cb4-teaganhunter_letsgettextual_hrLet’s Get Textual by Teagan Hunter

OMG I loved this book so hard! From the very beginning I was completely in love with every single character. Also, I’m not sure I’ve ever laughed so hard over a book, EVER. The banter between Zach and Delia is absolutely hysterical! I loved every single minute from the moment I started the book.

I know right away that I would love Delia because of what happened with Caleb. Then of course there is her roommate Zoe who is equally hysterical. This duo crack me up. She made the moment that Zach and Delia meet 100% amazing. These two supporting characters really make a difference in this book. Without Zoe and Caleb I don’t think the story would be as great.

Now, Delia and Zach, these two are so perfect!!!! I love how they “met” and how well they go along. I also love how long they waited to meet each other, it made everything so much better once they did! From their first date, to meeting his family, to THE AMAZING baby goat, all of it was 100% PERFECT! This is the first book of Teagan’s I’ve read, and I have to say I’m kind of addicted now!

InterludeInterlude (Interlude Duet #2) by Auden Dar

So the beginning of my review for Prelude started with the feelings I felt about the book. Not a whole lot has changed with Interlude. I still felt Interlude was: Amazing, heart broking devastating, and I definitely thought the book was beautiful. This time I get to add: Relieved, whole, lost and found. I’m sure there’s so many more, but that’s what first came to mind.

I have such a beautiful relationship with Auden and I got to talk to her throughout the whole time I read this book. It was great to be able to talk about how I felt, but I also wrote about it to. Every reaction I had or an amazing quote, I wrote it down. That’s what this book inspired me to do, write. I couldn’t wait to write this review, so I’m writing it only half an hour after finishing the book.

Lina and Julian ended up being characters that were so whole, complete, and so unexpected. When I finished Prelude I was so disappointed in Julian, and in Andrew. I was left completely at ease with this book. Now, that doesn’t mean there weren’t many times where I was so upset I couldn’t see straight. There were many of those moments, but there were so many more beautiful moments. Having been left devastated at the end of Prelude I couldn’t wait to read what was going to happen next. Lina was hurting so bad, and even though she didn’t think it, she was so strong! She left a life she was comfortable with, to start a life that she wanted. That takes so much bravery! She grew so much in this book, and I loved the character that she had become. She was such an inspiring woman.

And Julian, oh Julian. I couldn’t believe he just up and left. Having read Interlude I get it now. It took me a long time, but I get it. The love and devotion he has for Lina is spectacular. It’s what every single woman has always wanted from a man. He may have had some bumps along the way, and being the typical man, he didn’t speak his feelings like he should have. But, overall, I’m so happy with how he developed. I loved him in Prelude, although disappointed, I loved him even more in Interlude.

Then there is Andrew. I didn’t even talk about him in my last review, that’s how little I thought of him. Getting to see a new perspective of him in this book makes me so sad for him. I don’t want to give too much away, because I desperately want you to read this book, but you will understand him a lot better.

This entire book was just so amazing and beautiful. It was haunting and devastating. It was everything. It was perfect. Auden, you are such an amazing writer, I can’t wait to see what else you write ❤

After We Fall

After We Fall (After We Fall #2) by Melanie Harlow

I loved this book so hard!!! Jack and Margot were both so amazing! They were both super stubborn, head strong people, but they both loved so hard! These two hard headed individuals were so perfect for each other. I loved the bickering and fighting between them, I also loved the relationships with the different family members and friends. I constantly found myself laughing or smiling. I enjoyed this book sooo much!!!! The audio was FANTASTIC! Rob and Renee were wonderful!

RecklessReckless by Lex Martin

This is definitely one of my favorite books so far this year! I’ve never read anything by Lex Martin and it makes me so sad I waited so long!!

I love the story of Tori and how she’s trying to turn her life around. And then we have Ethan, who just wants a new normal for his family. Really it was just so perfect the two of them!! I love how great Tori is with her his kids, she’s just so natural. She knows just when not help them and how. I was also so surprised at Ethan, how much he really wanted Tori to be a part of their every day lives. And then we have Logan, oh how I love Logan. He’s the PIA brother who sometimes helps and sometimes makes things worse. He’s just the best. There were so many good twists in this story. Allison as an ex was someone who I was so frustrated with, and Jamie was just ridiculous. These two really made the story so much more interesting and really kept us on our toes.

Then we have the end of this book. It is just so amazing and really complete. That’s the best part about a good epilogue! I love when we really feel like the story is complete. Of course I feel like almost every book can go on, but this one had a pretty amazing ending! I’m sure there’s so much more I can say, but I don’t want to give it away =]

StillStill (Grip #2) by Kennedy Ryan

I was so happy to have this book when I was done with Grip. If I had to wait another moment to keep reading their story I was going to be so sad. But then I had to face life and I had to wait AN ENTIRE WEEK to get to finish it. That was so torturous!! But I know myself, and I know that if I had not finished it in one sitting I would have been hurting myself.

Part One – These two are just so amazing. To see how they handle hard situations, it’s amazing. When Grip was going to have to leave, I had no doubt Bristol would follow. The hardships these two went through throughout this part of the book were unimaginable. Being a mixed raced couple isn’t that “unheard of” these days, but for these two it meant a lot. Their love for each other would be enough to out-weigh any opinion or thought of racism; of what “should” or “shouldn’t be” with their relationship. They laid down the rules for what people should thing.

That was just so refreshing!!! I love that these two fought for their relationship, not just with their family, but with the public. They let people know that the color of their skin is just that, just a color. And their love throughout this just got stronger! They fought together and loved together. Their love is just so amazing.

Part Two – I love that this book has two parts. I think it makes it so much more special. Also, it really needed two parts, because it was like two phases in their life. The first phase, getting to the point where their love has helped them grow. Then the second phase, testing that love. This is the part where I cried on end. The love these two have is just so beautiful. Through vows and trying times, they made it all just so beautiful! They make me want this love so hard, more so than any other book I’ve ever read.

To go through everything they went through in the book, and still come out of it alive at the end? That is the TRUEST test to love, and they passed with flying colors. The emotions I felt during this book were just indescribable. There was so much love, joy, heart ache, agony, and so many more things than I just can’t explain. These two broke me, as they were broken, but then they helped me get put back together with their own love.

Kennedy Ryan is just a genius. She’s an evil genius, kind of like a Jackal and Hyde. She knows just how to bring us down to the lowest to low, but then knows how to bring us back up. There were so many tears (like 30 min at least) for so many reasons. For angry reasons, happy reasons, sad reasons. Every emotion was felt to the fullest degree, and that is what I love most in a book. I love when I can be pulled under like that. It was so magical.

(My favorite Series Ever, check out my series review)

OceanOcean (Damaged Boys #5) by Jo Raven

I’m pretty sure this is my favorite book ever written by Jo. There’s just something about it that really pulled at all of my heart strings. I cried multiple times because there were so many amazing and sweet parts. Everything that lead up to this book had me wanting Ocean’s story. I knew it was going to be good, but I didn’t know it’d be this good. Kayla always seemed so quirky and I never thought of who she might end up with. I loved the roll Kayla had at the end of Shane’s book, it was so profound.

Profound seems to be my thought throughout most of this book. Each of these men had a different story (for the most part), but a lot about Ocean’s past hit me harder than the others. The way he needed Kayla and the way she needed him, it brought me to tears a few different times. Their bond seemed more unique and so much more loving than the others. She’s such a nurturer, and I love that she took care of Ocean. Ocean always took care of everyone else, that he didn’t realize how much he needed it.

I love how these people are a family; they are the biggest and best family unit. When the tough gets going, they are always there for you, especially Zane. I love how much they needed and used each others help in his book. Just showed how amazing they all are.

76b88-the2btrade2bebook2bcoverThe Trade (The Clans #2) by Elizabeth Knox

I was soooo excited for this book!!!! The first book, Promised, was the first book of Elizabeth’s I read. From there I totally fell in love! I couldn’t wait for the second book in the series and to see what came next! I love that we got to see Mariana and Ion in this book, especially got to see how fierce Mariana is. LOVE IT!

There were so many surprises in this book. I try to not think of the blurbs for books when I read them, in face with this one I hadn’t read the blurb in so long I didn’t even remember! I knew at some point the clan would come up, but I wasn’t sure how. I love the different twists and turns, because they really made this book more insightful. It also helped it from being too predictable, there are always certain things that we might expect, but Elizabeth did a really good job of taking us in a different direction right when we thought we knew what was going on.

I love everything about Anton and Natasha. They were everything that I had hope and dreamed of for the second book in this series!!! Anton is the PERFECT alpha male, flaws and all! And Natasha, I love her so much in the! She’s so strong, and she’s everything Anton isn’t, and more. Which makes them so perfect!! There were even more twist and turns with her, THEY WERE THE BEST!!!

This book excited me so much, I CANNOT WAIT FOR MOREEEE!!!!

bane-cover-facebookBane (Sinners of Saint #4) by LJ Shen

Prior to starting this book I thought that Trent was my favorite of the men…. well Bane definitely changed my mind!!! I am such a quick reader, that I don’t typically take the time to highlight while I read. In this book I highlighted 12 times, which is WAY more than I ever have before. I don’t know what about this book caught me so much, but it was just written so well! There were so many things that were so insightful that I just HAD to highlight them! I cannot wait to share them with other either, because I want to know what other people think.

I was so curious about Bane before this book. He had a pretty big role in Scandalous, because he was so close to Edie, and I just had to know more! We got such a small glimpse as to who he was, so when LJ announced Bane I was so excited!!! Bane was EVERYTHING I had hoped for AND SO MUCH MORE! I love that this book is years later, and that Bane really rose from the ashes. I love everything about his past, and everything about who he is now. He is such a prominent person, even if it isn’t for great reasons. His words with Vicious in the beginning really had me confused, but as I read on I really started to understand.

Then we have Jesse, who is such a broken person. From the moment we heard her story all I could think of was, this poor girl! I really liked how from the very beginning Bane got something out of her. From his first, simple interaction, she had a reaction to him. This really fascinated me. I love how she knew who he was, knew his reputation, yet she trusted him. It’s as if she knew that he was the exact person to help her break out from her shell. Yes she had gone through so much, but hell no she wasn’t going to stay down forever. She was determined to get herself back, and I think she always knew he’d be the one to help her.

The amount of shit these two go through is truly amazing. They really get put through the ringer, individually and together. But I love how they persevered. They really had their crap together, far more than any one else would. I loved every bit of their relationship! I loved every single thinggggg. I love how it was a little slow, a little messy, not at all perfect, how perfectly HOT IT WAS, I mean EVERYTHINGGGGGG. I cannot wait to see what other people say about this book!

Your RhythmYour Rhythm (Sherbrook Station #1) by Katia Rose

WOW! I adore everything there is about music and everything there is about writing. This book was the perfect merriment of those two things, two of my favorite things. Everything about this book was so well written, so well thought out and so developed. There isn’t one negative thing I could say about the book. It had the perfect about amount of twists, turns, hills, slides, falls, everything you want from a books flow and more. And the emotions, man was she good at those! I always felt myself feeling exactly what they were feeling. Whether Kay or Matt were getting excited for a show, angry over something someone did or said, nervous about something happened, all of it. I felt those exact feelings all of the time. But, enough about the writing (although it was good enough to rave about).

Kay and Matt. These two really are what you want in a lead couple. There’s mass confusion, lots of complicated feelings, lots of life events getting in the way and there’s always a secret or two. These two made waves though, from the first moment they met. The chemistry they had was undeniable, and I can’t believe that they resisted as long as they did. There were a lot of bumps in their path, but that is really what makes up a relationship. Kay, as a writer, was really an inspirational character. Being a journalist you have to ask yourself a lot of questions, which she did regularly, and you have to know who you want to be. The words that Kay spoke were so perfect. And then we have Matt. It was the same for him. You could tell he was the lyric man, and clearly a romantic. He also seemed to be a glue to his band.

Without giving too much away, the ins and outs of this book were flawless. There was just the perfect amount of everything (which I think I’ve already said). I cannot recommend this book enough!!

AlwaysAlways by Lindsay Becs

THIS BOOK WAS SPECTACULAR! This is Lindsays first big release, and let me tell you, HOLY CRAP SISTER!!! I love her style so much, and I deeply appreciate an emotional book. She really knows how to take all of your emotions and tug on them deeply. I was messaging her as a I read, and I told her that her writing style reminds me of a mix of Jay McLean and Lurlene McDaniel. Those two are two of my favorite! I’ve read SO many LC books and nearly all of Jay’s. I CANNOT wait until she writes more. I devoured this book in less than three hours and i desperately need more!

Josie and Travis were such amazing characters in this book. Josie is an amazing and strong woman, she’s a mother, a friend and a lover. There wasn’t one thing I didn’t love about her. Or really about Travis either. The chemistry these two had was OFF THE CHARTS, but there were so many factors working against them. When they finally did become a couple it was so euphoric! I couldn’t wait until that moment, and Lindsay portrayed this moment so perfectly! It was one of my absolute favorite moments of the book. I had so many favorite moments in this book and it’s definitely one of my favorite books this year. Each twist and turn, and every emotion was just executed so perfectly. I just can’t say enough!

(One of my all-time favorites, check out my book chat)

Broken Compass.jpgBroken Compass by Jo Raven

Man did I love this book hard!! Although it’s a reverse harem, it isn’t what you would think of one. The relationship that Sydney had with Nate, West and Kash is so different and we really get to see it develop throughout the book. The pain that all four of them go through is really unfathomable, and the fact that they are all there for each other was soooo sweet. The things that each person endeared to stay with the other was also unfathomable. I really love how we got to see so many sides of all of the characters, especially Kash. Kash made the story even more special than it already could have been. To me, he was really the glue that kept the other three running. It was his influence that made them make the decisions that they did. The kind of love that they all built was one that anyone wishes they could have with one person, and they were special enough to have it with three others. There were sooo many emotions, twists and turns that it really kept me going right with them.

Now, being a reverse harem, there were some SEXY parts!!!! MAN were they hot!!! Everything that led up to them being a quad was just so hot! We realllllly got that slow burn, the exact same way that they did. I loved seeing how each relationship started to turn from friend to lover, and then when they all came together it was so special. And again, SO HOT! I loved every minute of this story, from the good, to the bad, to the ugly, to the amazing. Every Second, Minute, Hour, Word, Sentence, Paragraph, and Chapter. Definitely one of my favorite reads so far this year.

Pretty RemedyPretty Remedy (Finally Found #2) by SE Hall

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO HARD!! I have absolutely adored every single thing SE has ever written, but these two books have, by far, been my favorite! I love everything about this little family. I loved Lizzie with my whole heart, I didn’t think I could love Rhett and Jarrett as equally.

Everything about Rhett had me being pulled in. I was so curious about how he really felt about Lizzie, because I didn’t truly understand. Then I saw him with Reece and I knew a switch was flipped. The instant reaction to her was undeniable! Then we have Reece, a.k.a teacup, who is the most adorable thing EVER. I LOVE that he calls her that, it’s so damn cute. Everything about her also just pulls you in. You are curious about how she reacts to him, or how she’s going to react. We even got to see some pretty fiery sides to her, it was great! All of these things about her was just so perfect for Rhett.

Now, SE’s writing, it’s really what pulls you in. There are so many emotions in these books, she just keeps you going for a loop! There are so many hysterical moments, I really laughed SO HARD, but there were just as many serious and touching moments. She really does the perfect combination. None of her words are ever so sad to bring me to tears, but she definitely knows how to pull all of the emotions out. Every time I read one of her books I remember just what made me fall in love with her writing to begin with. Everything she writes is relatable too. Her books are just real. For that alone, I will always love and read her work!

28398690.jpgHow to Save A Life (Dreamcatcher #1) by Emma Scott

–Before I post my review, I want to share why I read this book. Poor Emma lost her amazing daughter in June. I wanted to give back what I could so I started reading her work ♥

This book was everything! It was like Jo and Evan against the world from the very beginning. The amount of crap these two went through was insanity, but it also made them so perfect for each other. They really needed to find each other to make their way through life. And the extent that they did this was pretty darn amazing.

From the scar, to the moving, to the rumors, Jo was so resilient. As was Evan, the torture the kids at that school put him through was enough for someone to throw themselves over a cliff. But not Evan, was determined! Between his determination and Jo’s resilience they made the perfect couple. Almost like a modern day Bonnie and Clyde, without the criminal side. The way they kept their faith in each other was mesmerizing. You couldn’t stop thinking about it and hoping for them. It was truly special.

Emma Scott has such a way with words and just writes so well. I CANNOT Wait to read more of her work ❤
