Book Chat: Always

Hello loves, I hope you are all having a great weekend!!! Personally, I’m so excited this week is over! Now, this book, this book is so amazing!!!! I’ve been good friends with Lindsay for one time, so I was like bring on the books! I didn’t expect the book to be THIS AMAZING (No offense Lindsay, but I didn’t know your writing)! This book is not only one of my favorite books this year, but possibly one of my favorite books ever. I really want to know your thoughts and see if you feel the same way I do ♥

So this book chat is going to be a little bit different. I’m writing this as I still sit here wallowing with my puffy eyes and sore nose from tissues. This book was so utterly amazing end emotional. I had to start writing immediately. I even held off on eating the rest of my Ben & Jerry’s (Which I desperately need after reading this book) to sit down and write.

DISCLAIMER: PLEASE DON’T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOK!

Title: Always

Author: Lindsay Becs

Josie
Forbidden love… I guess that’s what you’d call what we have.  But to me, it’s just us.
This is the story of how I fell in love with a man unlike any other.  About how he loved me so deeply and completely, even when I tried to fight it, his love continued to shine through.  Because when Travis Gellar decides to let love in, it’s the most beautiful thing. He loves without condition.

Travis
She’s the only one in my life to show me what it was like to be loved and cared for.  I knew long before she did that we were meant to be together, that we’d be amazing. I just had to tear down her walls first to make her see.  Once those walls fell and she saw what we could be, she saw all the beauty that I’d seen all along.
Josie isn’t just physically beautiful, but she’s beautiful inside and out.  I’ve made it my mission to make sure she knows exactly how beautiful she really is.  But more than that, I want to love her. Always. She’s a part of me and I’m a part of her, even when fate tries to intervene.

THIS BOOK WAS SPECTACULAR! This is Lindsays first big release, and let me tell you, HOLY CRAP SISTER!!! I love her style so much, and I deeply appreciate an emotional book. She really knows how to take all of your emotions and tug on them deeply. I was messaging her as a I read, and I told her that her writing style reminds me of a mix of Jay McLean and Lurlene McDaniel. Those two are two of my favorite! I’ve read SO many LC books and nearly all of Jay’s. I CANNOT wait until she writes more. I devoured this book in less than three hours and i desperately need more!

Josie and Travis were such amazing characters in this book. Josie is an amazing and strong woman, she’s a mother, a friend and a lover. There wasn’t one thing I didn’t love about her. Or really about Travis either. The chemistry these two had was OFF THE CHARTS, but there were so many factors working against them. When they finally did become a couple it was so euphoric! I couldn’t wait until that moment, and Lindsay portrayed this moment so perfectly! It was one of my absolute favorite moments of the book. I had so many favorite moments in this book and it’s definitely one of my favorite books this year. Each twist and turn, and every emotion was just executed so perfectly. I just can’t say enough!

BOOK CHAT TIME!

Josie Before: I fell in love with Josie the moment we met her singing along to Britney Spears. This woman was just so strong!!! I love how she had persevered through the whole ordeal w her ex, Adam, and went on living her life. In face, like she said, it made her a better person. I respected her SO MUCH more after reading that! Not only is she an amazing mom but she’s tough as nails. Then we have Travis. I love how she slowly had been noticing things about him, but never really thought anything of it. Then he comes in after she’s been drinking some wine and BOOM life has changed. I was so upset when she let Travis go through. I understand not being sure and not wanting to be the talk of the town, but she needed to do what she wanted to do.

Travis Before: This man…. THIS MAN! I love Travis with every inch of my being. From the beginning he was so up front with Josie about how he felt. He was so sure that he loved her and didn’t care what happened because of it. It would be so amazing to feel that kind of love from a man, and to be appreciated like he appreciated her. I love how he didn’t give up and he was just so damn sweet! Everything he did for her was amazing! I loved how cheeky he was and how he flirted all the time. The stolen kisses, the quick moments of holding, everything. I felt so bad that he had a really shitty home life, but I love that he had her. What really turned my thoughts was when he admitted when he realized he was in love with her. This man, oh how he was just so meant to be with her!! When she left him, he took it so well.  Really thought it might get ugly, but he just left. That was TOUGH.

Ollie & Tattum: These two were so great in this book. (Side note: I LOVE THEIR NAMES!). Ollie is such an AMAZING big brother and Tate is so sweet. They were really such great anchored characters in this book. Ollie especially pulled some heart strings, because he’s just so strong for his mother. With everything that this family went through, he was always there, and always a rock. (P.s. I teared up just typing that)

Josie and Travis After: So the After is after they find out that Josie has cancer, I love that he first thing he did was drop to her feet and cry. (Again… crying as I type this). His devout love for her was amazing. When that happened I wanted to shout, “It’s about time!!!”. Even with the hesitation from Ollie, they didn’t hide. And then how he was there for her through all of her treatments. Again, THIS MAN!!! They couldn’t have been more perfect for each other. It was this part of the book the the waterworks were pretty steady. There were multiple moments where I was sobbing, but for the most part, it was steady LOL. The way that Travis integrated himself into this family was so smooth. He’d already known and loved her children, and he really just stepped right in as the role of a protector and provider.

Some of my favorite things were: The dancing and the pond. I loved how they would just dance whenever and that the Pond was their place. I thought it was just so special that they got married there. From there we had Lucky Penny ❤ This girl was such a miracle! I was so excited for them, and I just knew how excited he was. (Again, sobs).

The End: This ending was so tragic, but so beautiful. I was so afraid that Josie’s cancer would come back, but NEVER did I think that it would happen just 3 years after she had Penny. (Cue more crying while writing.) The way she passed and the way the family continued their life was so beautiful. I love that she wrote them letters and I loved her speech before she died, while at the pond with Travis. (SOBS).

So enough of the blow by blow. THIS BOOK WAS SPECTACULAR! This is Lindsays first big release, and let me tell you, HOLY SHIT SISTER!!!

I’m so excited that you loved Always so much, and humbled that you’ve said it’s one of your favorites. Thank you so much for reading and for sharing Josie and Travis’ story.
Now, you’ve said a lot about the emotions of this book and what made you cry (for good reason). I’m curious, were there parts that made you laugh?
