~♥~ PERSONAL READS ~♥~
Lucas (Preston Brothers 1) by Jay McLean
I loved everyone so much in the More series so much, that I was so beyond excited when I heard that Jay was writing about the Preston boys! There were so many amazing qualities to this book. It was everything I had wanted and so much MORE!
These boys have lived such an interesting life, having been around Lucy and her friends they know what love is really like, but I wasn’t sure how it would be with them. I absolutely loved how Laney was someone who was close to more than just Lucas. I loved that the entire family loved and relied on her. Also, of course, I felt every emotion under the sun in this book! I was laughing, then crying, then giggling and then angry, I felt them all! It was the best kind of roller coaster and I can’t wait to see where she takes us next!
Hail Mary by Nicola Rendell
Sports themed books are my favorite, not only do they involve sports, but also have Alpha males and super hot relationships. Hail Mary was one of those stories to the fullest. Jimmy and Mary were such a fun pair! I love how humble Jimmy was and how Mary had NO CLUE who he was! Everything about them made you want to keep reading and had you on your toes for more. There were also so many emotions involved, there were twists that sucked you in even more. It was so much like a rollercoaster with the ups and downs and the excitement. I can’t wait to read more of Nicola’s work!
Vicious (Simmers of Saint #1) by LJ Shen
I had been told so much about this series and pretty much forced by multiple friends to buy all of the books. After reading Vicious, I’m so glad they did and I’m so sad I didn’t start the series sooner!!!
This crazy game that Vicious and Millie play is so intoxicating! From the very first chapter I was so curious to see how their story would end up. Vicious seemed to have been appropriately named and Millie really stood her own ground. But sooner after major confusion set in. I didn’t understand why Vicious treated her the way he did and then how he acted about his best friend dating her. Mass confusion soon paved way to perfect clarity 10 years later. I soon caught on to the game he was playing, although he was playing with her heart, he didn’t realize he was playing with this two.
LJ’s style of writing with this book really intrigued me. I’m not always a fan of when the author goes back and forth between time, but her transitions were flawless! I was never upset that we were revisiting the past, in fact I wanted to know more and more. She paired it so well with what was
happening current day. Also the depth to her characters is fantastic. Each character has so many layers and their personalities area slow build. We slowly get to know a little bit more about each of them throughout the story. We get to see their younger (might I say immature?) selves and their present day (only sometimes more mature) selves, and she really helped to put pieces of the puzzle back together with this.
With alllll of that being said, I loved and hated Vicious so much, maybe more of the later most often. I also adored Millie and what she stood for. She made the best of every situation and held her head high. I cannot wait to read what she has in store for the rest of the boys!
~♥~ Audio Books ~♥~
by J Daniels
I couldn’t wait to get more of Luke and Tessa after reading Where I Belong. Tessa is such an amazing person and Luke seemed to be a really amazing person too, and this was SO FRUSTRATING!! These two were so amazing, so hot and so frustrating! I loved everything about their story and the amazing ending we received. I CANNOT Wait to read the rest of this series!
by J Daniels
I was so excited to see that Reed finally had a turn! I was always so curious about him, and I was so excited to see what was going to happen. J did not disappoint! This book was EVERYTHING I had hoped for and more. Beth is the perfect person for Reed, from the moment they started talking I knew what they had was going to be so special. It was also great to see the other couples and their interaction with Reed and Beth! There was so much build up and so many roller coasters, she really couldn’t have done this any better!
~♥~ ARC Reads ~♥~
The Wild by K Webster
Wow! I’ve only gotten to read one other book by K Webster but I really know her style. K appropriately warns you first thing in this book, there are many taboo things and triggers that you need to be careful of:
The Wild is an extremely taboo story. Most will find that the themes in this book will make you incredibly uncomfortable. This book is only for the brave, the open-minded, and the ones who crave love in even the most dismal of situations. Extreme sexual themes and violence in certain scenes, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to heavy taboo themes, then this story is not for you.
The warning is so appropriate and so forthcoming. There are so many points while reading this where I thought what did I sign up for when deciding to read this? Then I remembered it’s K, it’s WORTH EVERY SINGLE SECOND OF ANGUISH. And for me, it was anguish. I am usually a hearts and flowers kind of girl, I don’t read much dark or much that I know won’t make me happy. I really took a leap with K Webster the first time I read her book and I was beyond excited that I did. That didn’t change this time around! There are so many things about her writing that I find comforting. Although there were some really tough parts and some really tough things to get around, I knew to trust her. Devin and Reed make you forget everything around you during this book. There were so many ups and downs and beyond anything else, there was so much love! It was carnal their love, carnal and beastly. So intense that it really made you step back. I loved and hated every minute of this book and I don’t regret a minute of my time reading it. In fact, I’m going to read it again to soak it all in again =]
Nate by Celia Aaron
I really love Celia’s writing so much! I loved all of the characters of this book. There was so much whit, humor, but also the blood bath and action. It’s the best sort of combo! Sabrina and Nate are such interesting characters and have such interesting backgrounds, it was fascinating to see them interact. I especially loved Sabrina’s attitude, she was “on” all the time. I love the family that Nate has built within his mafia and how they fully embraced Sabrina. I loved it all!!
Pitch Please (There’s No Crying in Baseball) by Lani Lynn Vale
I love everything about a good sports book, especially when it has a lot of the sport in it. Another part that makes it even better is when the girl also knows about the sport, it makes everything so genuine! And that is what these characters were. Hancock and Sway were so genuine and unique!
First thing, of course, is their spark. We immediately know that Sway has always liked Hancock, but was also immediately see the spark between them. This is so important in a plot and Lani did it so well! Second, is how different Sway is. I love that she isn’t your normal female lead, she’s sassy and she’s a curvy girl. What is not to love?!?!? And we can all appreciate how Hancock likes those specific things about her. There is also quite a contrast between Sway and Hancock, it makes things so interesting.
I found myself really addicted to this book, I got it done almost in one shot too. Lani did so well in keeping me hooked, and I mean hooked, line, sinker! Her characters were real, unique and so interesting! Between that and the real emotions we felt while reading I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read more of Lani’s work!
This one is one of the best mini series I’ve read this year!
Sleuthing with the Enemy (Unnatural Alliance #2) by Danielle Hardgrave
I have really come to love this series! I love all of the characters and Anna and Jonas were so great! I love that we still got to see some of Dane and Helen, it was nice to see their life continue. I also loved that Dane’s family has such a strong purpose and their little sister trying to be her own purpose.
The chemistry between Anna and Jonas was so strong and I love how Danielle played it out. The hard to get and denying of attraction always makes it seem so much more strong. This is a great short story and a great series, I can’t wait to see where she takes us next!!
Temporary by Sarina Bowen & Sarah Mayberry
This book is definitely one of my favorites so far this year! From the beginning you are sucked in and you feel so many emotions for Grace. Then when we meet Callan and we just know that life is going to be dangerous for Grace. Their chemistry is amazing! Callan is another person we feel so many emotions for. He lost someone so close to him and it seems like no one else in her family cares. This really put Grace is such a tough spot, but she handled it so well. These two worked so well together in their work life and in their private life.
My favorite thing about this book was the dedication both of them had. Callan for his Uncle and Grace for her sister. They are both so admirable for their efforts and it makes us fall in love with them both. There were so many feelings throughout this whole book, we felt heartache, pride, sexy thoughts, happiness and sadness. It really was a constant roller coaster, and it was such a great ride! These two did so good together, I hope they put out more work together!
