Dante’s Circle, Series Review

Hello loves!!!

As most of you know Carrie Ann Ryan is one of my favorite, recently discovered authors. She just released her final book to the Dante’s Circle series yesterday so I figured I would do one big post with all of my reviews. I will be having a reading event starting Thursday for a group discussion on all of the books in the series on my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/acsquaredbookblog make sure you all check it out! I’m pretty partial to paranormal reads and I’ve been branching out a little more from the stereotypical vampire reads to shifter novels too. This series is great for that! Here we go!!

Book #1 Dust of My Wings

the Story of Lily & Shade

Dust of My Wings

Blurb:

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

Neat freak lab tech, Lily Banner lives her life as any ordinary human. She’s dedicated to her work and loves to hang out with her friends at Dante’s Circle, their local bar. When she discovers a strange blue dust at work she meets a handsome stranger holding secrets – and maybe her heart. But after a close call with a thunderstorm, she may not be as ordinary as she thinks.

Shade Griffin is a warrior angel sent to Earth to protect the supernaturals’ secrets. One problem, he can’t stop leaving dust in odd places around town. Now he has to find every ounce of his dust and keep the presence of the supernatural a secret. But after a close encounter with a sexy lab tech and a lightning quick connection, his millennia old loyalties may shift and he could lose more than just his wings in the chaos.

Warning: Contains a sexy angel with a choice to make and a green-eyed lab tech who dreams of a dark-winged stranger. Oh yeah, and a shocking spark that’s sure to leave them begging for more.

My thoughts:

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I had just recently read what is out there so far of the Montgomery Ink series by Carrie Ann Ryan, after reading everything in that series in a little over a week I was going through withdraw and had to start another series of hers. I added the Whisper Sync option so I could even keep “reading” while in the car. I fell in love with Shade from the moment they started talking about him, and Lily is such a sweetheart! I love how struck they were by each other when they first met, and how Shade was so determined to stay with her before she had any idea what was going on. The whole concept of finding their “true half” seemed so foreign but so amazing. I love this concept so much, it really takes true love to a whole new level!

I really love that the first book in this series involves an Angel. I’ve never read another paranormal series that involved Angels and shifters, I love the combo of the two. I also love that they made these Angels warriors. Shade is so fierce and so loyal, he really pulls at you. And Lily, you think that she may just be a pushover, but she doesn’t let that happen. She finds a way to stand up for herself and embrace who she became. It’s so endearing. I can’t wait to see what comes!

Book #2 Her Warriors’ Three Wishes

the Story of Jamie, Ambrose & Balin

2 her warriors three wishes

Blurb:

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

Ambrose Griffin is older than most, if not all, civilizations. As each year passes, he submerses himself into his training, only relaxing around his protégée and friend, Shade. After losing his wife and children in the last Angelic Wars, he guards his heart and has no desire to share it with another.

Bookkeeper and romance novel enthusiast, Jamie Bennett dreams of being swept off her feet by a white knight. However, her life is no romance book. Since meeting Ambrose—a sexy, delicious angel—she’s been twisted inside out and doesn’t know why. Things are happening that she can’t control and now her life is in danger.

Balin Drake is stuck in hell, literally. His life of refusing to take souls, even though it’s part of his demon nature, has caught up with him. He’s dying and now must search for his true half, but even a mating may not save him. When he meets the two people who could fill that part, he’ll need to fight for something he hasn’t felt in over a century—hope.

Warning: Contains a rigid angel who needs a certain sexy woman to help him unwind, a book keeper who finds herself the creamy center of the best cookie ever, and a demon who has a certain taste for pressing them both against walls.

My Thoughts:

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Carrie Ann does it again!!! I am so addicted to everything she writes right now. There were so many delicious twists and turns you were captivated the entire story. You felt every emotion that was omitted from the characters and as usual, left wanting more. I loved Ambrose in Shade’s story, but you get to know him so well in this book. And Balin, he was such a pleasant surprise!!! I ached for him from beginning to end, I can’t wait to see more from the three of them! Also can’t wait to see more from Hunter and Becca! Onto the next I go!

Book #3 An Unlucky Moon

the Story of Becca and Hunter

3 an unlucky moon

Blurb:

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

He’s spent the last few years in hell fighting in the demon games and doing things that would haunt even the fiercest of men’s nightmares. But now Hunter Brooks is back in the human realm, ready to take on the Pack that left him behind…and take the mate he’s just met.

Becca Quinn is one of the seven lightning-struck women—a human who isn’t so human and only needs to find her true half to unlock all that she could be. Hunter, the dangerous, sexy wolf, has saved her life twice, and yet she knows nothing about him—only that she wants to know everything she can.

Between the Pack’s council and strangers who could take everything away from them, Becca and Hunter have more to fight and everything to fight for. Hunter’s dark past takes over their courtship, and just when he thinks all his lost, he’ll find that Becca’s more than he—or she—ever thought.

Warning: Contains a sexy wolf who broods with the best of them, a woman who defines the term unlucky, and a chemistry that’s sure to make the wolf howl in all of us.

My Thoughts:

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I 100% swooned over this book. All of the men so far in the Dante Circle series have been so protective, alpha, but also gentle. This tough, rugged man that Hunter is, and he is so darn sweet!!! And Becca, she has such spirit, they are the perfect match! I liked how in this book you got to see more of the inner workings of one of the paranormal groups, before we just got glimpses but didn’t get to see much on how it worked. Since Hunter is a Beta we got to see so much more. I also adored how Becca went to him and stayed with him so they could help the pack together. She was a human and just walked right in and said Let’s Do this! Both of them have so much courage, it was amazing to see.

Book #4 Tangled Innocence

the Story of Nadie, Jace & Dante

4 tangled innocence

Blurb:

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

As one of the seven lightning struck women, Nadie Morgan has known for a while now that her fate would be forever changed…and revolve around a certain dragon. From the first time Dante Bell saw Nadie, he knew she was the one for him. There’s just one problem–there’s another in his life he’s waiting on as well.

When Jace Goodwin, a bear shifter and Mediator, finally comes back to the human realm after years away under circumstances out of his control, his first stop is to Dante’s Circle where he not only finds his dragon, but the woman they both have been waiting for.

Once secrets are told and the sparks fly, Nadie’s new life becomes something she never thought possible. However there’s another realm at play and Jace and Nadie’s dragon will have to fight harder than he’s ever fought before to keep the life he’s waited eons for.

Warning: Contains one not-so-innocent human, a bear known for his bear-hugs, a tattooed and pierced dragon with a fiery temper, and a connection so explosive, you’ll be fanning yourself from page one.

My Thoughts:

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First and foremost, IT’S ABOUT TIME!!!!!!! I was going insane not knowing what was going on with Nadie, just the same as the girls. I was really excited at the end of Am Unlucky Moon that we got to see a little bit of the story behind why Dante hadn’t approached her yet. Knowing this though, I was SO upset that he didn’t tell her!!! Clearly there was a connection between the two of them that had been brewing for a while.

The big bad dragon, Dante. He is EVERYTHING that I hoped for, and so much more! The fact that he is paired with another makes me so happy for Nadie too. She has been hurting so much since they were struck by lightening, that I think she was due for as much love as she got. I was also SUPER excited about what she became, because it was the LAST thing I had ever expected, but living with two men, I thought it was pretty fitting.

Now speaking of two men, Jace! Jace was so adorable and I felt like he was a big bad teddy bear! His loyalty to Dante is just amazing, but it was so sad that it took him so long to be able to come back. I’m also sad that Dante had to wait to let everyone know what was going on.

Overall, super excited for Nadie and her story, it was everything I hoped for!

Book #5 Fierce Enchantment

the Story of Faith & Levi

5 Fierce Enchantment

Blurb:

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

Faith Sanders sacrificed her life to save her best friend—only to find herself trapped in an endless sleep. When she awakens, a year has past and everything has changed. Her friends have not only moved on with their lives, but now she’s forever bound to a man she’s never met.

When Levi Hughes created a mating bond with the raven-haired, fiery woman, he knew he’d have to face the consequences. Not only does the woman in question bring with her a new battle he might not be ready for, but his past has finally caught up with him. It will take more than the strength of their bond to not only survive their new worlds…but each other.

Warning: Contains a drop-dead sexy wizard with more than simple magic tricks up his sleeve, a lightning-struck, fierce woman who finds her paranormal half more shocking than she’d dreamed, an ex-wife who wants nothing but pain and death, and a mating bond so combustible that the world will be speaking of their seduction for an eternity.

My Thoughts:

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was so beyond excited to see Faith getting her turn! She has always done so much to help all of her friends and his fiercely she protects them. And to see Levi get a chance to have what he always wanted. I fell in love with them both something fierce! This couple had a much different start than the others and I think their story had a little more pull for me because of it. Faith didn’t get to “choose” like the others, but I could tell they both felt the pull prior to her getting injured in the last book. I was so glad she gave up her “man eater” attitude and let herself love and be loved, it was about time! And Levi, he’s such a great guy. After hearing about his ex and the life he had before, I was so happy he found Faith and the entire circle. The circle is so close knit that anyone would be lucky to join them.

Book #6 An Immortal’s Song

the Story of Amara, Tristian & Seth

Immorta's Song

Blurb:

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?
Amara Young has always been on the outside looking in. She’s the one lightning-struck woman out of her group who has never felt as if she’s belonged. She lost a year of her life caring for her dying friend, but now it’s her turn to find out who she is. Only when the time comes, two men stand in her way—two men who claim her as theirs.
Tristan Archer, fae royalty and Conclave member, has waited over nine hundred years for his fate. And now he has two chances. While one knows his path, the other seems blind to what they could have. It will take more than a simple risk for Tristan to finally have what he desires…that is if Amara and Seth can overcome their own uncertainties.
While the other two in his life are fighting themselves and their futures, Seth Oceanus knows exactly what he wants. The younger brother of a Conclave member and relatively young in his realm, he knows he’ll have to prove himself so others see him for who he truly is.
As the triad succumbs to their cravings, they will have to fight more than their overwhelming feelings in order to survive.
Warning: Contains an innocent merman, a very talented fae, and a human woman who can outpace them both.

My Thoughts:

5 of 5 stars

I’ve been such a fan of this entire series and when I got done with book five and realized that the series wasn’t complete I wanted to die! So when I found out that book 6 would be out in April and book 7 in May I calmed down a little bit (as this was only January or February that I finish the other 5). Well those weeks didn’t pass fast enough. I devoured this book in only ONE DAY! I absolutely love the way that Carrie Ann writes and how in depth she is with her characters. I also love that each character has their own book, but you still get to see a little bit how each of the other girls and their mates have continued to live their lives.

Until Fierce Enchantment (Book 5) you didn’t see a whole lot out of Amara. You’ve always seen glimpses of the girls but she was closest with Faith so we didn’t really see much of her until Faith’s story. Amara is someone who sacrificed herself to take care of her friend while she was in a coma for an entire year, that speaks volumes for her allegiance to her friends. I was so sad to find out that she felt lost among the friends, although with one of the last of the friends to find their true half one might expect that. Faith thought she would be alone for ever also. I was really happy to see her in a triad too, it seemed that the women that needed the most love and companionship ended up in a triad.

Now for her men, oh her strapping men. I loved seeing the dominance of Tristan and the playfulness of Seth, it was a great contrast and a good anchor for Amara. I really wish I had gotten to see a little more of their personalities, but I know we will see more of that to come. We got a small glimpse of both of them in Faith’s story so I was excited to see that we get to see more of them. Levi seems to have been just floating along without his mate and it seems that Amara and Seth have helped complete him. And I think for Seth, this was a way to really settle down and start to become more of an adult. In their world he is very young, so having Amara and Levi with him will help ground him.

Book #7 Prowled Darkness

the Story of Elaina & Malik

Prowled darkness

Blurb:

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

Eliana Sawyer’s life was rocked from its foundation twice in as many years. She risked her heart and had it shattered into a thousand pieces when Malik left her with no warning. While she’d normally raise her chin and ignore the pain, she can’t forget what he gave her before he disappeared from her life.

Malik Ward is a prince amongst the lion shifters and knows that one day he will have to take a mate. Only, his people can never mate with humans. Under the mistaken impression that Eliana was only human, he forced himself to leave before they’d crossed a line and he broke his vow to his people. Now that he knows the truth about Eliana, however, it will take more than groveling to win back the one woman fated to be his.

While Eliana and Malik embark on a new sensuous path that might lead to disaster, the realms aren’t ready to allow the final lightning-struck human to be enveloped into their fold. The couple will have to combat those plotting against them, as well as the broken promises and heated emotions they share.

Warning: Contains a Leo with a bite that’s worse than his roar, a woman with one last chance at the life she’s always dreamt of, a flame that could extinguish with the wrong sacrifice, and the final journey in the bestselling Dante’s Circle series.

My Thoughts:

4 of 5 stars

This book in its entirety was so bittersweet. I knew going in this would be the last book in the series and that made me so sad. But on the other hand I was so excited to see how Carrie Ann would end the story. The end of the last book left me wanting more so badly that I was almost afraid to start Prowled Darkness. Of course I started it the moment I could though, just have to grin and bear it right? This is how I did it, like pulling off a bandaid. With that said, I loved this book so hard. I read the entire thing in maybe 3 hours and I kept trying to turn the page for more. It was THAT good, and of course I never wanted it to end.

Elaina was always the friend that is consistently there for everyone and I just kept wondering when she might get her turn. At the end of An Immortal’s Song I knew this book would be epic because the end of that one left me completely heart broken for her. Knowing the circle I knew there was no way she would be truly alone, and I was really hoping that Malik would reappear. I would never expect a Lion to be so darn stupid and run off like he did. I had to laugh at the beginning of the book because I knew she would be tough and incredibly snarky. She definitely didn’t disappoint! And I absolutely love how Seth became her protector.

Now Malik, I was SO disappointed in him!! How did an Alpha Lion not know she was lightening struck? How else would she have met him? And how did she NOT know he wasn’t human? I think those two facts just made whole scenario a little more entertaining and yet a little more sad. He is such a fierce man and I was so happy to see him be such a fierce partner. Even better? She scared the daylights out of him!!

Their love though, it was so awesome! They were so fierce and neither of them stopped loving each other. I can’t say too much more without spoilers but I loved it al. My only complaint is that it weren’t longer. I wanted to see more of how they lived together and how the friends were a few years down the road

Ok loves, now that I’ve talked your ears off with my review I hope you all can come join my discussion on facebook here!
