Hello all!!!!! So I finally finished Can’t You See by Dawn L Chiletz and all I could think was OH MY GOD!!!!
Her Truth: Meredith O’Neal is a book editor who just moved into town. She doesn’t believe in happily ever afters.
His Truth: Devin Stone is an insurance adjuster who’s bad with people and doesn’t have any real friends. He’s tired of his boring day to day existence and is searching for a little excitement in his life.
Two stories – Two people. Nothing is what it seems.
Someone is a liar. Someone is wicked and deceitful but this time they might have gone too far.
Nothing is fair in love and revenge. Hearts will be broken. Lives will be ruined. But that’s all just a part of the game.
The cruelest burns don’t leave scars. Can’t you see? The truth is right in front of you. Just keep reading
For my review:
Can’t You See? Well no, no you don’t. You see one thing, then you see another, and wait is that yet another? Oh how I love it! I was pleasantly confused throughout this whole novel! Dawn set it up in three parts: His Side, Her Side and POV of the detective. I love he said/she said games and this one is one of the best! There’s a clear view for each of the two “main characters” then she throws in this twist of an outside person. This detective who doesn’t know either character and has to get all of the facts out, but who is setting up who here? You are asking yourself this question as soon as you see the title “Her Side.”
Dawn’s writing is so masterful and she always keeps you guessing. For Devin, he seems so quite and reserved and he constantly admits that he has trouble with people. And in the beginning (or maybe the whole thing ) Meredith seems like she’s bat shit crazy! She’s wishy washy and I didn’t quite get how he liked her so much. Then it gets to Meredith’s point of view and you start questioning your own sanity. Yes! I questioned my OWN sanity! She’s THAT good!! Meredith, honest to God, seems absolutely frightened in her point of view. When reading her POV you start thinking, wait what the heck really happened? And then Detective John Riggs, oh Riggs. He’s the typical man in his POV. I don’t want to give a lot away, but he acts as we might think a male detective would. And you think man am I stupid? Is he stupid? Now that I’ve confused you all, please go buy this book!!!!!
I can’t recommend this book enough! I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this and I’m forever grateful! I immediately went and bought another book of Dawn’s she’s that amazing! In the title above I have a link above for good reads but I’ll include a few more:
